Mission
The goal of Hyperacusis Belgium is to improve the quality of life of individuals who live with pain and loudness hyperacusis, tensor tympani syndrome and reactive tinnitus.
Vision
The organisation aims to accomplish this goal with a primary focus on Belgium and then Europe, but is open to collaboration with international researchers, healthcare providers, partner organisations, research institutions, governments and other relevant partners.
Particular attention goes to the most severe patients who experiences little to no benefit from currently available treatment methods.
The organisation pursues its mission and vision by:
Increasing awareness of the conditions in Belgium
Providing information and education about hyperacusis and scientific research
Supporting innovative research into the underlying mechanisms of the conditions and treatments which objectively improve symptoms: collaboration with universities, hospitals, ...
Forming a bridge between patients, clinicians and researchers
